General troubleshooting
Various solutions that can sometimes resolve some graphical, crash, and performance issues:
1. Verify Steam Integrity
Verifying the integrity of your Steam files will ensure the game is installed correctly.
- In your Steam library, right-click on Skin Deep.
- Select: Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files
2. Update your video drivers
Updated video drivers can sometimes resolve graphical & performance issues.
3. Ensure your computer is using its dedicated GPU
Some computers/laptops have two graphic chips. You'll want to ensure that the high-performance graphics chip is being used for the game.
This setting is usually accessed via the NVidia Control Panel or AMD Control Panel.

How to reset the game's settings:
- Locate the doomconfig.cfg file.

How do I open the config file for the Windows non-Steam version?
- Click on the Windows start button.

It's not running on my laptop
Some laptops have two pieces of video hardware:
- a built-in internal graphics chip.
- and a separate higher-power video card.
Sometimes the laptop needs to be manually told which one to use.
Typically this setting can be accessed via the system tray, such as the Nvidia Settings program. Please check and make sure Quadrilateral Cowboy is using the video card, not the internal graphics chip.
I'm getting the error message: "failed to open log file 'qconsole.log'"
This crash may sometimes happen when the computer's username has an umlaut, accent, or special character in it.
- You may be able to work around this issue by running Quadrilateral Cowboy with administrative privileges. (right-click on quadrilateralcowboy.exe and select Run as Administrator)
- You may be able to work around this issue by going through the process of renaming your user folder.
Is there a way to hide the crosshair/hud/UI?
- In Options > Advanced Options, enable Debug Console
- Press tilde (~)
- Type in: g_showhud 0
Done! To re-enable the UI, type in: g_showhud 1
