Blue screen of death on Windows 7 x64

@Eon -

Sorry for the inconvenience. I do try to make my games as bug-free as I can, but issues sometimes do get past me.

1. Can you let me know what operating system (Windows XP, Windows 7) and video card you are using?
2. Please download and run this diagnostic: http://blendogames.com/dev/3dtest.zip and let me know what appears on the screen. Thanks.

Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate edition
Radeon 5770. There's a reason I prefer NVidia; ATI has way too many bugs with so many games :< Sadly, I can't complain; My friend bought this for me 'for free' and it was brand new, $100+ T_T
I understand you try to make them bug free as you can...but I'm still confused as hell as to why a BSOD is even happening... O.o It should be easy to find the issue for the BSOD, because it's a memory leak issue from what me/my friends can tell from my own BSOD error message(s)...

Ah crap, sorry! Forgot to put my name in the last post.
Aaaaanyway....
3d test.
esc = exit.
spacebar = show video info.
enter = spawn cube.

The cube is spinning and turning fine from what I can tell; I don't see any bugs/issues, and it hasn't crashed.

@Eon -

Just to verify, have you gone through all these steps in order ("I get a "Blue Screen of Death" crash"):
http://blendogames.com/atomzombiesmashe ... m#gencrash

Also, please try re-installing the OpenAL sound library:

Yes sir, I said that I did and I meant it. I tried lots of combinations of those fixes, all of em together, some of em, some others from the list, nothing worked. Right now, I'm in the same boat as a few others; I don't get a BSOD/crashed, but I don't see a game window.

@Eon -

Does the audio play? I've been told certain television monitors position the window at an inopportune location. Please try running with these command-line parameters to force the window to appear at window coordinates 10,10:
-fullscreen 0 -x 10 -y 10

Command-line options are described here:

I haven't tried the audio fix yet, but the audio played fine back during the bundle release for the game, when I applied the steam key and played...And it played fine up until the BSOD...
I'll try the audio fix and command line parameters in a bit and let ya know...

So I tried installing the audio fix, keeping all of the other fixes, and trying the launch codes...same result; No game screen, no error message, no sound, BSOD. It just sits there, the exe running, steam saying I'm in game, but nothing showing....

Sorry it took so long to respond...I was hesitant because I don't like forcing my computer to go through BSOD just for a chance of something fixing it or potentially breaking it :/ Also sorry for any typos...

I am having the same problems as Eon. Tried all posted solutions and didn't work. Still get BSoD at random intervals. Ran the diagnostic and got exact same result as Eon. Saw the cube spinning with the logo.

Wow I didn't get all that...I'll say;
I have 2 monitors. I dunno what my avg fps was, but it prob was similar to his. My resolution, however, is 1440 x 900 and 1152 x 864.
Jay - I wouldn't say we're the EXACT same...I don't even get the game to run, much less random BSOD....Not that I'm complaining. I'd rather this kind of problem than a computer crashing one -.-

@Eon - if the game remains in the system tray and nothing appears on the screen, it is likely the file "atigktxx.dll" is required for you to run the game on your system. Is atigktxx.dll in your Atom Zombie Smasher game folder?

If you need to reacquire that file, please verify the game cache. To verify the game cache:
1. Right-click the Atom Zombie Smasher icon.
2. Select: Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Cache

When you went through the steps of http://blendogames.com/atomzombiesmashe ... m#gencrash , were you able to run the game, or did you see a BSOD immediately at game startup?

@Jay - I apologize for the inconvenience. The game currently has issues with some systems that use ATI video cards. Most users are able to resolve it via the alternate exe file, as described here:
http://blendogames.com/atomzombiesmashe ... m#gencrash
However, it seems Eon and yourself are experiencing something else. Let's diagnose the problem:

1. Are you running on Steam?
2. Are you on a desktop or laptop?
3. Does the crash happen after a set time or spot in the game? Or is it completely random?
4. Have you ever been able to run the game?

@Eon & Jay -
This is a long shot, but some time ago a few users reported getting the game to work by:
1. Plugging headphones into the headphone jack and starting the game.
2. Or, plugging a gamepad into your computer and starting the game.

It's not so much that it's in the system tray as it is that it's in the System's Processes. It's not in there, because one of your fixes that you suggested says to remove it :/
Yes. That gave me an immediate BSOD.
I always use headphones; I have a splitter now, in fact. It connects in the headphones, and has 2 parts so I can use both speakers and headphones on it.
I may have had a gamepad plugged in without thinking one of the times I booted up the game, but I can't say for sure....
