@shockie -

1. Can you please download and run this diagnostic? http://blendogames.com/dev/3dtest.zip Let me know if it runs at a smooth framerate.
2. What video card does your laptop have?
3. Can you please try running the game with these command-line parameters:
C:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\atomzombiesmasher\data\atomzombiesmasher.exe -sound 0 -joystick 0 -vsync 0 -fullscreen 1
4. Try going into the options menu and disabling the VSync option.

I don't think it's related to this, but just in case:

WinXP SP3 (32)
Single Core 2Ghz
2Gb operating memory
ATI Mobility Radeonx300

It plays just fine until I beat the game. The ending is painfully slow and choppy. Trying to switch programs or press escape bluescreened me.

Hey, I just got this game from the Humble Indie Bundle and I'm having these same framerate issues. I haven't even gotten past the game intro yet. I tried all the suggested fixes listed in this thread: restarting, deleting the ATIGXX.dll(whatever its name was), and the other .dll file from the "data" folder. Nothing has worked as of yet. I'm using the following:
Windows 7 laptop
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570
4GB RAM, Intel i7 CPU @1.6 GHz
If it makes a difference I'm running the game through Steam. Does anyone have anything else that's worked to solve this problem?

I still can't play this game :( Beginning at the loading screen the cursor is extremely slow to respond to mouse movements. It takes anywhere from 3-20 clicks before one registers. The framerate is so slow and choppy that it takes me about 4 minutes just to get to the main menu. I've tried to do all the recommended fixes I've seen in this thread, but none have worked. I'm not using a controller, just a regular Logitech USB mouse. There's got to be some way to play this game! Please help me.

Hi,

I have removed the two DLL files as was suggested earlier on this forum and the slowness stopped, game loaded much faster, mouse speed and game lag gone.
the files i removed from the game directory were:
atigktxx.dll and openal32.dll

Hope that helps.

Hi,

I'm running 64 bit Windows 7 with a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 card. I tried removing atigktxx.dll and that didn't fix the mouse stutter/frame rate issue, and neither did the ati hotfix. The openal.dll file is not in the /data folder. Using a USB mouse.

Please help?

Bought this game on Steam and cannot get it to work. Stutter makes mouse uncontrollable. Rebooting did not help and renaming th .dll files did not solve it.

I also fixed the lag problems by removing atigktxx.dll and openal32.dll

Thanks! :D

I've got this issue, and I've tried all the fixes (except that third one, which linked me to a 404 page), and I've reinstalled the game, and no dice! It worked just fine on my old desktop, and my old laptop.
Specs:
Windows 7, 64 bit
Switchable graphics cards (tried on both): Mobile Intel HD Graphics, and a Radeon 6950M
And it's a laptop.

Guys I had the same problem, running the game through Steam on a Dell xps 15 laptop (Windows 7 64 bit, Geforce GT 540M gfx)

Because I was being lazy I deleted both dll files at the same time and when I tried the game I encountered another problem. So i restored the DLLs and tried them deleting them one at a time and "Lo and Behold" deleting the ati dll sorted it for me! I don't know why but I'd assumed this dll wouldn't affect me as I dont have an ati card, but it did!

Try the suggested solutions one at a time guys and you'll get there, best of luck!
