So enjoying this - reminds me of X-Com

Just wanted to say, this is far and away the best game out of Humble Bundle #3. I'm running it on my notebook (Ubuntu 11.04, 64-bit) and it works perfectly. The research trees, the tactical use of your different teams for force multiplication, the ridiculous odds: it's all pleasantly reminding me of X-Com, one of the first games that has ever done that. Different style of play, of course, but still awesome.

X-com is very near and dear to me, so that's quite a compliment. An earlier version of AZS was fairly heavily based on X-com, with building bases and asset/personnel management; I ended up scrapping quite a bit of it, but some of it remained. I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the game!

Yeah, me too, spent most of my weekend playing... awesome game. Too bad the strat map got cut/dumbed down, would have loved to see version 2... well, but I guess not everyone is a hardcore gamer who loves complex strategical options *sigh* Europa Universalis combined with Ufo Base building and this wonderful gem would be sooo... :D

I agree with OP. Quite awesome. I would have enjoyed it even more if it was more x-commish, but as it was, it was the deciding factor in getting the humble indie bundle (well, that and having the games in bundle 2 thrown in. With the EFF donation being a deal-sweetener. I like the EFF).
