@Guest -

just to clarify: the demo works fine, but you are still having a framerate problem with the full version?

Just bought the game off of steam. Having the horrible lag and framerate issues, I don't even bother trying to start a game, the main menu is already next to impossible to navigate.

Basically will move the mouse over and it'll lag really badly, then when I finally navigate to a button, I have to click multiple times before it registers. Animations in the back of the main menu are also slow.

Tried running in netbook mode, changed v-sync and screen resolution, no go.

Tried the solutions stickied already.
1. Powering down - No change.
2. Not an ATI Card. Deleting ATIGTKXX.dll does nothing.
3. Deleting OPENAL32.dll results in "fatal error loading sound" artyfire1.ogg
4. Verifying game cache does nothing.

Win7 x64, 4 gigs ram, Nvidia GeForce310M, Bluetooth mouse.

Help?

Can you please try this:
1. Reinstall the C++ redistributable: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/d ... bf0912db84
2. Reinstall the .Net framework: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/d ... b15c5e04f5

Can you try shutting down your computer & restarting, and see if that makes a difference?

Do you possibly have a different mouse you can try using?

Solved.

Had to update the NVIDIA drivers on my laptop which wasn't an easy ordeal since that required a BIOS update as well. Seems to be functioning fine now, thanks.

I just bought this on Steam for the Summer Sale and have been suffering this exact problem. My framerate is slowed down and my mouse stutters, I wasn't even able to type in the bug report because it would not register the keystrokes and to even open the bug reporter I had to hold down my right mouse button until it recognized what I was doing. The music in the background is completely fine though.

COMPUTER SPECS:

Windows 7 64-bit Home Edition
ATI Mobility RADEON HD 4650
6 GB of RAM
Dell Laptop
Laptop's built in mouse pad/ Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000

I have tried all of these solutions and here are their results:

SOLUTION 1: Power down your computer, restart it, then re-run Atom Zombie Smasher.
EFFECT: No difference.

SOLUTION 2: If you have a joystick/gamepad, try plugging it in before starting the game.
EFFECT: No difference. (Probably because of the built in mouse pad of my laptop, but even disabling that did nothing.)

SOLUTION 3: if that does not work, go to your Atom Zombie Smasher's "data" folder (likely c:\program files (x86)\atom zombie smasher\data) and delete the ATIGTKXX.dll file.
EFFECT: No difference.

SOLUTION 4: If that does not work, go to your Atom Zombie Smasher's "data" folder (likely c:\program files (x86)\atom zombie smasher\data) and delete the OPENAL32.dll file.
EFFECT: Crashed the game completely, not even letting it load. (Sent the report when Blendo's crash reporter popped up)

SOLUTION 5: If all that fails, copy & replace these libraries into your "atom zombie smasher\data" folder: http://blendogames.com/dev/sfml17lib.zip
EFFECT: No difference.

SOLUTION 6: 1. Reinstall the C++ redistributable
EFFECT: No difference.

SOLUTION 7: Reinstall the .Net framework
EFFECT: No difference.

SOLUTION 8: Verifying game cache.
EFFECT: No difference.

SOLUTION 9: Updating graphics card
EFFECT: No difference.

SOLUTION 10: Reinstalling the OpenAL library and running the game
EFFECT: No difference

SOLUTION 11: Running with a difference mouse
EFFECT: No difference.

WINDOW TEST: Download http://blendogames.com/dev/windowtest04.zip and report the numbers it displays when mouse moves.
REPORT: FPS 717 - Mouse Events: 125

SOLUTION 12: Running the game with headphone jacks plugged in
EFFECT: No difference.

SOLUTION 13: Try on another computer.
EFFECT: It works perfectly fine on my outdated desktop which has these specs

Windows Vista 32-bit Home Edition
NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT (Not updated)
3 GB of RAM
HP Desktop
USB Wired Mouse (That created no difference when plugged into my laptop.)

Even though it works fine on my desktop I really hope a patch will be made to solve this issue soon. I rather play this on my Laptop for the mobility, especially when taking it to friends' places to play the local co-op.

@Sundae -

Sorry for the inconvenience. The framerate slowdown is usually related to some combination of the atigktxx.dll file or restarting the computer. Can you please try this:

1. Verify the cache (right-click AZS > Properties > Local Files > Verity Integrity of Game Cache)
2. Shut down your computer and restart it. Run AZS.
3. Delete the atigktxx.dll file. Shut down your computer, restart, run AZS.

Can you please download and run my diagnostic tool? http://www.blendogames.com/dev/3dtest.zip
Also please try deleting the atigktxx.dll file in the 3dtest folder and see if the diagnostic is still able to run.

I'm having the stutter issue but it doesn't seem to be associated with mouse movement at all. It only happens when there's supposed to be an artillery explosion, or other effect beyond just watching the helicopter fly in and out. Also, the rain level is completely unplayable, it stutters every 2 seconds or so, and stops altogether when lightning strikes. Moving my mouse a lot or leaving it still has no effect.

Deleting OpenAL didn't fix it. Deleting the ATI file causes the game to not start. I have updated drivers.

Well as I had already posted above, I tried already Verifying the Cache with no effect other then replacing the atigktxx.dll when i deleted it. And there was no effect to deleting the atigktxx.dll or the OPENAL32.dll I tried deleting one at a time and even both at the same time. Where deleting atigktxx.dll would make no difference in the framerate slowness, And deleting OPENAL32.dll would crash the game. Deleting both at the same time would crash the game as well, most likely because of removing the OPENAL32.dll

I don't want to seem snippy its just the reason why I posted that long list of solutions that I have tried, was to let you know ahead of time what I had done already so that you didn't have to ask xD.

I tried your diagnostic tool, the thumbs up cube rotated smoothly BEFORE deleting the atigktxx.dll and even AFTER deleting the atigktxx.dll

not sure if you wanted me to past the video info but here it is:

Sorry for the miscommunication.

To clarify: after you reinstalled the OpenAL audio library (http://connect.creativelabs.com/openal/ ... alinst.zip), deleting OpenAL32.dll from the Atomzombiesmasher/data folder crashes the game?

Are there any background programs you can try temporarily disabling?

Can you please try the "nosound" build described here: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=602&hilit=nosound#p3382

1 Didn't do anything

2 It mostly works, but when I mouseover a "level 2" or "level 3" zone, the game stalls, and I just played a rain level that stalled constantly. I didn't even see any rain, just the sound effect.

Before I tried reinstalling OpenAL audio library, deleting OpenAL32.dll would crash the game immediately. After reinstalling OpenAL audio library it still would crash the game when deleting OpenAL32.dll So both before reinstalling and after reinstalling OpenAL audio library, deleting OpenAL32.dll will crash the game at start.

The only background programs I have on are the essential ones running my computer atm so I don't think I can without crashing my computer.

I tried your nosound build and there was no difference in the framerate lag.

The _nosound exe seems to have ignored my profile completely and ignored all my settings (maybe by design?). Also, at the end of the intro comic, it crashes with an error:
"This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."
Edit: After looking at the full thread you linked, the error the thread is talking about is what happens when I use that nosound exe

And since it was in the post I tried this anyway - The other exe in that post shows a framerate of 5100, and mouse events up to 900 when I'm moving the mouse

Do you by chance have another mouse you can try using?

Can you please try re-installing the game?
1. Right-click AZS
2. Select: Delete Local Content
3. Double-click AZS to reinstall it.

I tried the test build but it still had no change in the lag sadly and it even stopped responding after putting in my profile name this time. And Windows Update is at 0 important/optional updates atm. Sorry its giving you a hard time. >).<

Also I looked at how much CPU and Physical RAM is being taken up by the game and its about 10-14% of my CPU and 5% of my RAM if that helps at all.
