"System.DllNotFoundException: csfml-audio" or "Fatal Error"?

I don't have one nearby, but I might be able to get one out of storage.

This happens to me a lot though, some fullscreen games I've downloaded/bought from the internet don't work in fullscreen, so it could be my tv.

Those 2 steps fixed it, but it was really annoying to have to do them again, after I had done them 2 nights ago to make the demo work in the first darn place!!!

My steam version works just fine, but if I try to install the non-steam version when I run the game I get the fatal error: "Fatal error loading sound: "artyfire01.ogg"

I tried downloading and installing oalinst. The game runs but whenever you start a new game there's an annoying buzzing sound drowning out the music. Furthermore, if you skip past that and start the first mission, as soon as you deploy the irritating buzzing sound comes back but this time just in the background.

When I first read this thread I noticed that there was no "OpenAL32.dll" file in the data folder after running oalinst. After reinstalling and trying the advice in the first post I still have the same problem.

@Guest0 -

1. I'd like to figure out whether the problem is in the sound effects or music. Can you please try lowering the sound effects bar to zero and see if the problem persists? And then do the same for the music volume? These settings are located in the Options menu.

2. Can you see if the problem persists in both windowed and fullscreen mode?

3. Can you please try running the game with this command-line:
C:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\atomzombiesmasher\data\atomzombiesmasher.exe -sound 0

1. Persists with Sound at zero, stops when Music is at zero.

2. Started in windowed, switched to full problem still there. Quit out, started in full and switched to windowed and problem still there.

I should clarify that this buzzing sound only happens when launching the game during the opening credits but not in the main menu. Also when going to a mission it does not start up again until after you've finished deploying units.

3. My Steam version works without any problems. The problem is only occurring in the installer I got from the Humble Indie Bundle. Right now it's installed at:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\Atom Zombie Smasher

Notes: Windows XP - 32 bit

Okay, that helps narrow it down to a problem in the music system.

Just to clarify - you have reinstalled the OpenAL library (oalinst) and you currently have openal32.dll in the Atom Zombie Smasher folder?

After installing the openal32.dll file is in the data folder. Running it causes an error and asks me to download oalinst (and redirects to a webpage). After I download and run oalinst the openal32.dll is no longer in the data folder. Is that intended, because it sounds like the opposite of what you described is happening.

Also, I found it peculiar that the oalinst file didn't ask for an installation path or anything besides an agreement clause.

p.s. Finished the campaign on my steam copy, loved the game and congratulations on the great work.

That's normal behavior. When the game has audio problems, it automatically deletes the openal32.dll in the game folder and reverts to using the openal library installed in your system.

Do you happen to know what sound card you are using? And are you on a laptop or desktop?

It's a desktop with an integrated sound card.
This is all the manufacturers lists on their website:

I've the same problem (thread title) nothing works, not the demo, not the full game, also the patch to 1.89(?) doesn't make it.
Then I dld the openAl library from creative labs, but nothing happened - the error message is the same as before. it says i should dld the openal library, although i just did that.

@kalle_outofthekrautländ, luke -

1. Can you tell me whether you're running the Steam version of game?
2. Can you please copy me the error message? You can press ctrl+c to copy the message when the error window is up.

I had the artyfire01.ogg and csfml-audio errors but I found this thread where it was suggested to delete openal32.dll. I simply renamed it to openal32bak.dll and the game works. There is some audio missing though, namely - helicopters rotor sound and music during and between missions. I have bought the game at GamersGate.
The game's amazing btw.

EDIT: Just wanted to point out that I played the demo prior to buying the full version and everything there worked perfectly.
