I LOVE your work

I LOVE your work

Postby DELTA » Aug 03 2009

Hey man I love your work, it's so deep and it's very interesting to play. I like Polarises message and I love HWC's message even more.

HWC is soooo freaking deep, like you might want to stay together but lieing to yourself is also bad. There is no good or wrong here. Also the memory's are very poetic and they made me feel emotions (for like the first time ever xD, no but seriously they were deep too). And what I love more is the ending, I'm not sure if other people noticed this but whether you break all the boxes or stash them away it will always give you one last box. And it was perfect timing for me because I was JUST about to leave before the last box dropped.

Now my favorite part is the very ending where it's labeled X9 and of course there is no X9 so it kind of symbolizes that you can never truly keep all of your emotions bottled up. So if you decide to brake that last box it will take you to one last map where it's like a movie set and it's all props and everything and is has all the memories and emotions there. And I'm not sure about this but I THINK that's to symbolizes that whether you stay together or get divorced the relationship was still one big act or play.

Very deep and very symbolic, I'm not sure if you meant for all that stuff to mean what I said but even if you didn't I think you're a genius and you deserve to be praised.

Also I learned how to find North with the stars :D

OH and one last thing, did anyone notice that once you come out of that first room into the big stashing room that if you look left and up you'll see a window and someone is looking down on you. It's almost like Gman from half life.

Anyways yah love your work, can't wait to kill myself after listening to Emily Dickinson for 2 hours xD

It is the gman in that window, I decompiled the map in hammer (don't worry I'm not going to do anything bad with it, I like decompiling favorite maps for inspiration ;)).

Wait... There's MORE to that map???

I thought it ended a bit abruptly...

I MUST REPLAY THAT MAP!!!
-Right Now-

PS:
Oh My God I love this mod so damn much... I honestly wish more people would make mods (or even full games) with more emotion.
I know there are some great games out there that have made me feel sad... or cried *cough*, there are not enough!

Oh wow I did intend this to be a short reply but I seem to have drooled on... Sorry! =]

I've noticed alot of people say that the box always comes just before they leave. Hate to kill the magic, but isn't it just a trigger behind the door? As you walk off, it sets off a trigger. So it does the right job. As you leave, there's always something that will draw you back for even a second. It's up to you to decided weither to look into it or continue leaving.

But yeah, aside all that, it really is a great game. I really hope you can get the third part out soon. But with all this work, it should be well worth the delay.

... yeah, that's intentional. Do you go back, or has the game been so awful and confusing that you keep walking away? I wish I could collect stats to see who walks away and who goes back.

I have to say I loved the Radiator series so far, and you seemed pretty down and out about the amount of time taken and the end result of 2, but the entire core of the game is there, and it's only lacking a little bit of "visual" polish in 2. Both games have made me think beyond an analytical state of mind that usually comes with a third party mod with a physics engine, and got me emotionally involved in both games. At one point I was just about fed up with stacking boxes inside James' head I was ready to say fuck it, there's too much work involved in repressing emotions, and was about to pick up every box in the room and slam them on the floor. I went through all the endings and I have to say bangup job, this mod is unique, involving and fun (if not in a pure gameplay sense certainly in an artistic one). It gets a spot in my head next to the other great games.

If it helps your stats, I kept going. To be honest, I didn't even recognize it as the box dropping sound. I thought of it as an auditory reminder of what you've just been through, and that though you've finished the game, it's never really over. Well, that and box stacking was kind of tedious, and by the time I finished, James' mind was in pretty bad shape and the ambiance was getting really creepy. I only went back for the X9 box when I read about it here.

I loved it, was awesome.

First playthrough I did organise them to start with then when I realised dropping them moved it on anyway I smashed everything to hell without giving it a thought to what I was doing, right near the final boxes it completely twigged I was letting the emotion out and I was like....Damn that's deep. So I quit then to play back through properly and did end up destroying everything and when the X9 box came out I spent a good few minutes looking for where to put it and was like hmm. Maybe I'm meant to take it with me as a memento, but then it ended and I twigged on it's true meaning then.

I haven't yet gone back and attempted to put the boxes in order, but thats next on my list of stuff to do.

I registered just to say how amazing this mod was. At first I just played through like any other game. I looked at all the stars then ran in the right direction, and for the second one I just left thinking there was nothing to do. When I read that there is more to the maps I played through again and really started to see what the mod was about. Thanks for this (and thanks for using a gay couple too).
